GROWING TOGETHER: BODRUM MUNICIPALITY BRIDGES PRODUCERS WITH INDIGENOUS SEEDS

Seedlings produced from indigenous heirloom seeds by Bodrum Municipality were granted to producers. A saving of 1.5 million was made with seedlings produced from heirloom seeds.

Under the coordination of Bodrum Municipality's Agricultural Services Directorate, seedlings produced from local heirloom seeds at the Local Seed Center & Production Greenhouse in Bahçeyaka Neighborhood were distributed. More than 140,000 seedlings, cultivated from local heirloom seeds to preserve them for the future, were handed over to farmers during the distribution event.

The event was attended by Bodrum District Governor Mustafa ÇİT, Mayor Tamer MANDALİNCİ, Deputy Mayor Tayfun YILMAZ, district officials, representatives and heads of state departments, local producers and members of the press.

With a wide attendance, producers were provided with summer seedlings such as tomatoes, peppers and eggplants. Unlike previous years' seed grant programs, this year saw the distribution of seedlings entirely derived from native heirloom seeds without any purchases, resulting in a saving of 1.5 million.
