MONTENEGRIN DELEGATION PAYS A VISIT TO BODRUM BARRIER-FREE CULTURE & ART CENTER



A delegation from Montenegro, representing the ‘Center for Children & Youth with Developmental Disabilities’ in Podgorica, paid a visit to the ‘Bodrum Barrier-Free Culture & Art Center’.


The Bodrum Barrier-Free Culture & Art Center, which provides educational services to individuals with developmental disabilities aged between 22 and 36, recently hosted a delegation from Montenegro along with a journalist from Serbia. The delegation included Nina Strugar, President of the Board of Directors of the Center for Children and Youth with Disabilities and Developmental Disabilities (Podgorica, Montenegro); Olga Rovcanin, the center's Director; Aleksandar Franeta, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Knowledge Academy Budva; and journalist Olivera Jovicevic from Belgrade, Serbia.

The delegation was accompanied by Hayri Karagöl, the Director of Bodrum Public Education Center; Durmuş Turkan, the Director of Culture and Social Affairs of Bodrum Municipality; and representatives from the Foreign Affairs Bureau of the Municipality. The delegation was given a tour of the classrooms, during which special education teachers provided information about the students' conditions and ongoing activities.

Nina Strugar, Chairperson of the Center's Board of Directors, remarked, "We have a center in Podgorica that serves individuals with developmental disabilities. Today, we paid a visit to Bodrum Barrier-Free Culture & Art Center to gain insight into the services provided in this field."

Hayri Karagöl, Director of Bodrum Public Education Center, shed light on the center's operations, stating, "Through a collaborative protocol between Bodrum Municipality and Bodrum Public Education Center, this center serves for individuals with developmental disabilities with a team of six teachers including three Special Education Behavior Teachers, one Drama Teacher, one Folk Dance Teacher and one Physical Education Teacher. The center aims to facilitate social integration and skill development for individuals with mild intellectual disability, moderate intellectual disability and severe intellectual disability, as well as those with Down syndrome."

The delegation engaged closely with the students, examining their projects and capturing moments with photographs. In return, the students presented meticulously crafted gifts to the delegation.
