MUNICIPALITY OPENS SOCIAL ACTIVITY CENTER IN GÜVERCINLIK
The Güvercinlik neighborhood Social Activity Center Project has been launched by Bodrum Municipality.
The opening ceremony of the ‘Güvercinlik Neighborhood Social Activity Center’ took place recently with the participation of Ahmet Aras, the Mayor of Bodrum; Hayri Karagöl, the Director of Bodrum Public Education Center, municipal council members, neighborhood mukhtars, directors of relevant municipal departments, working women and citizens.
Günay Şafak, the Mukhtar of Güvercinlik neighborhood, who was the first speaker at the opening ceremony, expressed his feelings about the activity center and thanked Mayor Aras and the municipality employees for providing their neighborhood with such a center.
Director Karagöl of the Public Education Center mentioned the good collaboration with the municipality and the joint planning of various courses. He also stated that they shall do their best to meet all the course demands in the center opened in Güvercinlik neighborhood to meet the high demand for courses. Karagöl appreciated fort he efforts of the municipality and concluded his speech.
Mayor Aras stated that with this course center, they are addressing another need of the region and announced that they will open a similar center in Mumcular as soon as possible. Mayor Aras emphasized the necessity of having such centers throughout Bodrum to meet the needs of the citizens and children.
Mayor Aras said, "Since 2019, more than 45,000 people have taken courses in various fields. In the courses opened in cooperation with our Public Education Center, we, as the municipality, will support the sale of products made by the trainees while they learn a profession."
After the speeches, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held with all participants and the activity center was toured.
The activity center, which offers opportunities for the people living in the region to contribute to their economic livelihoods with the manual skills they will acquire, includes a 230-square-meter classroom, library, teacher's room, waiting space and kitchen. In the ‘Bodrum Municipality Güvercinlik Neighborhood Social Activity Center’, courses will be opened according to the planning of the district Public Education Directorate.
